The origin of Kumbh lies in the mythological story of the churning of the ocean. According to this, drops of divine nectar had fallen at four places – Prayagraj, Haridwar, Nashik and Ujjain. During the royal bath, sadhus dressed in saffron clothes and adorned with Rudraksha beads proceed towards the Sangam carrying a trident.

Preparations for Mahakumbh
Large scale preparations have been made in Prayagraj for organizing Mahakumbh. More than 4000 hectares of land along the banks of the Sangam has been converted into a huge tent city, which can accommodate lakhs of pilgrims. This tent city has 150,000 tents, in which facilities like Swiss cottage are also available.
These Swiss cottages are also provided with facilities like air conditioning and private toilet. Karan Kapoor, project manager of the tent city, said, “It is a city within a city. “We have ensured the highest facilities for the pilgrims, such as 24/7 electricity, clean drinking water and medical facilities.”

Security is the top priority in Mahakumbh. More than 40,000 police personnel have been deployed along with paramilitary forces. Also, this huge human gathering will be monitored with AI-enabled surveillance systems and drones.
Apart from this, 30 bridges have been constructed so that devotees do not face any problem in reaching the ghats. Additional Director General of Police Arvind Sharma said, “Our arrangements are completely safe and well organized so that the Kumbh experience is pleasant for everyone.”
Indian Railways and Transport Facilities
Indian Railways has arranged 98 special trains for the pilgrims coming to Mahakumbh. Apart from this, thousands of buses will also be operated. Along with this, medical teams, emergency units and volunteers have been deployed across the city to deal with any emergency.
